Introduction
Welcome to the UNEP TUNZA International Children and Youth Conference on the Environment (UNEP TICYC)!
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in cooperation with UNEP National Committee for the Republic of Korea hosts the UNEP TICYC in Daejeon, Korea from 17 to 23 August 2009. The conference whose theme is Climate Change: Our Challenge will collectively bring together about 1,000 participants (aged 10 to 24) from over 100 countries.
The participants will be introduced to UNEP’s new long-term strategy for the engagement of young people, TUNZA Strategy. The participants will also have a chance to agree upon the petition which will be developed online and delivered to world leaders who will sign a definitive climate deal in Copenhagen, Denmark on behalf of the world’s three billion young people.
